Today the Amgen Tour of California came to an end right here in Redondo Beach! It was the final, 7th stage, comprised of 10 laps totaling over 75 miles. The week long tour started in San Francisco last Sunday, and continued south through California. Thousands of people gathered in Redondo Beach on this beautiful winter afternoon to witness dozens of cyclists whizzing by at high speeds. The fact that the stage was structured using laps (as opposed to straight point-to-point) made it more interesting for fans, and afforded multiple glimpses of the riders at a close viewing distance. What an experience to see the very first year of this Tour of California, especially since it was all decided in Redondo Beach! Congrats to the winner, Floyd Landis of team Phonak.
