PA to CA

helmet head     Relentless sunshine, wide beaches, surfing, beach volleyball, girls in bikinis, offensive gas prices, an offensive governor. Yes, three and a half weeks ago I took the big leap across the country and moved from Pennsylvania to California, from the Lackawanna Valley to the South Bay. From Governor Rendell to Governor Schwarzenegger. From EDT to PDT. After growing up in New Jersey and spending the past 9 years in PA betweeen school and work, I’ve decided to fulfill my curiosity about the west coast. I dearly miss the east coast (NJ, NYC, PA) and will always love it there. However, I’m looking forward to what SoCal has to offer (besides The O.C. and Saved By the Bell). The area has a lot going on and is within reach to countless other adventures and experiences (e.g. Vegas, Tijuana).
Inline skating has been a huge part of my life out here, as expected. Instead of skating in Manhattan Borough, I’m skating in Manhattan Beach! The Strand along Redondo, Hermosa, and Manhattan Beach towns has been a hot path to follow about every other day. In addition, cruising Santa Monica and downtown Los Angeles with the Friday Night Skate group has been awesome! I even got a tail light for my helmet. And today I finally took a dip in the Pacific Ocean for the first time, as opposed to just blading by. Besides skating, I’ve been able to sample a couple clubs, but still haven’t found anything fantastic. I mean, I could have heard the same music at Tink’s in Scranton as I did at Zanzibar in Santa Monica.
The move was big and the flight was long, but I think it’s all for the best. I can’t wait to have the peeps from the east visit. Now I just have to convince Lindsay Lohan and Scarlett Johansson to join the Community Film Project.
This is my first blog in Pacific Daylight Time. How exciting.
