Over the past several months my car and skates have curiously deteriorated simultaneously. The car costs astronomically more, but I care more about the skates. It started with a ripped out lacing strap, then a crack in the frame, then the rivets holding the frame to the boot fractured and fell out. On top of that I’ve been rotating depolymerized wheels prone to disintegration. I’m risking it all every time I hit the streets. Finally I sent one pair of beat up skates back to Salomon and a replacement is on the way (thank you very much).
However, I am not so lucky with my car. Yes, it’s a Volkswagen, so it’s embarrassingly expensive to fix. It broke down last week in Hope, NJ on my way back from JerZ. Thankfully I got the car off I-80, but it still sucked having to deal with the morons at AAA. So I’ve had no car all week (could be a good thing!). The VW dealership is waiting on a part that’s coming from Mars.
As the manager of McCarthy Tire so eloquently put it (after I got two tires replaced there last week), “You’re having trouble with round things.”
You have no idea . . .
