Late last month I embarked on a journey for robot sumpremacy with the Abington Heights High School Robotics Team. I joined the Cruzin’ Comets on their second regional competition in two weeks. The first took place at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. The second at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. It was an experience to remember, with as much excitement and crowd enthusiasm as any pro sporting event. Equally important as robot design and game strategy is line dancing. “Cotton Eye Joe” was a favorite throughout the weekend, with the Macarena coming in second. The Cruzin’ Comets is comprised of over 30 high school students and a dozen mentors that collaborate to build a robot and compete in the FIRST Robotics Competion. The capacity I served in was that of the web design team mentor. http://www.cruzincomets.com
